About
I love to teach and am excited to tutor students outside of school as well! I currently work as a 5th grade teacher, and teach an efter school reading program as well. I am comfortable tutoring in all subjects for elementary students, and for middle school I am comfortable tutoring in reading/writing. Although this is my first year as a teacher, I have lots of experience working with students of all ages. I have tutored a 4th and 5th grader throughout college. I also have designed and implemented a summer reading program. My degree is in elementary education, with addtional concentrations in state/world connections and reading!
I love when students have the "a-ha!" moment and everything they have been working on finally clicks.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I would like to get to know the students interests and what motivates them. I also would assess the current strengths and areas for growth. After that we can start working on specific skills that need attention!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My degree is in elementary education, and I have concentrations in state/world connections and reading. I also work as a 5th grade teacher currently. Additionally, I have written a thesis on the importance of summer reading based off of summer reading program I designed and implemented.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages and backgrounds. I have worked at a daycare with students ages 1 month-6 years. I also have worked in many grade levels, including 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Students I have worked with come from diverse backgrounds, as I have worked in several different areas.
