What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would first ask the child’s parent(s) what they are hoping to gain for their child with the turoring. Then I would talk to the child to get to know them and see where they feel they can improve.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois and a Master’s Degree in Human Development and Learning from DePaul.
I will be starting my 30th year in Highland Park, IL. I currently teach third grade but spent 14 years in 5th grade and one year in 2nd.

At this time, I do not have a set price for my tutoring services.
How did you get started teaching?
I did some tutoring with elementary students in math and writing when Inwas home with my twins for two years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with elementary aged students who mostly needed extra support in a particular academic area.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am fond of spending time with family and friends and enjoyed a fun trip to Nashville, TN over this past spring break.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
In ould look for someone who is friendly, patient, and caring who listens to your needs and provides strategies to help you strengthen your skills.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should think about where they struggle and how to advocate for the help they may need.
