About
Hi there!
My name is Allie and I am currently a Freshman at Boston University who has a passion for math! I have a lot of experience with kids and young adults of all ages and personalities. During my senior year in High School, I was a teacher assistant for an Algebra 1 class and I absolutely loved it. Since then, I have tutored students in math. In general, I love all kinds of math but my favorites to teach are Algebra 1 & 2, Trigonometry and Geometry at any level. I really would like to continue helping kids to learn to love math and I figured this would be an excellent opportunity. My service is exciting and engaging! My goal is to build kids confidence in solving problems on their own and in ways they can understand. Due to COVID-19, I know many students are not receiving the proper math assistance they might need in order to succeed in class. I am offering to have remote tutoring sessions via ZOOM (or whatever platform is easiest for you) for 30 minutes ($20) or 60 minutes ($40). The sessions are totally flexible as to what you would like to focus on. I am also happy to provide planned lessons. Before each tutoring session, we can discuss what we would like to work on for the session so I can prepare materials and a lesson plan if needed. If you would like any recommendations from previous kids I have tutored or to see my resume, please contact me and I would be happy to provide. I look forward to working with you!
Best, Allie :)
Growing up, I thought math was boring and just a bunch of formulas. Then I took Algebra 1. I had the most incredible teacher who all of sudden made math fun for me. He took time to work with me individually and figure out fun and creative ways to solve and think about problems. Since then, I have had a passion for math! I love tutoring in hopes that people will be able to feel the same way about math as I do. I know math can sometimes be scary, but if there is someone to help walk you through it and encourage you, it can actually be fun!

Some students prefer to get general help in a subject while others preper to have assitance with specific problems from their homework or tests. You can also tell me any problems you have had in the past and what methods of learning tend to work best for you. This session will also help us get to know each other a little better before we begin working together!
