About
I am a young teacher who has taught at the high school level for the past 6 years, and am great at connecting with middle and high school students. The last three years I have taught Calculus, Pre-Calculus, and Algebra I/II at Wheaton Academy, a private Christian school in West Chicago. I also coach basketball and baseball there. I started my teaching career at a public high school in North Carolina before moving to the Chicago area with my wife.
If you are looking for a tutor who is very personable, down to earth, organized, and works well with all learning styles then I believe I can help you reach your goals. I am willing to tutor during an entire semester, or even just a few session to prep for a test or an ACT/SAT.
I am very flexible and easy going, and willing to meet your needs! Please reach out and give me a call.
The biggest perk of my job is when I see students who think that "math is not for them" or "they stink at math" begin to find success and understanding with the material. I love meeting new people, learning their story, and making their time working on their math enjoyable and productive.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before our first session I will connect with new clients to better understand why they are in need of a tutor and how I can help. I then like to dive right into the math content our first meeting, making adjustments and creating new strategies as I identify the students strengths and weaknesses.
I have plenty of my own resources and materials, but also love using students books/workbooks/online homework etc to help them find success.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am going into my 7th year of teaching this fall, and have taught all levels high school math the past 6 years. I am a certified teacher in the state of IL.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?
I was a Teach For America (TFA) corps member in 2012, and have been in the math classroom ever since. I love what I do.
What types of students have you worked with?
