About

I am a young teacher who has taught at the high school level for the past 6 years, and am great at connecting with middle and high school students. The last three years I have taught Calculus, Pre-Calculus, and Algebra I/II at Wheaton Academy, a private Christian school in West Chicago. I also coach basketball and baseball there. I started my teaching career at a public high school in North Carolina before moving to the Chicago area with my wife.

If you are looking for a tutor who is very personable, down to earth, organized, and works well with all learning styles then I believe I can help you reach your goals. I am willing to tutor during an entire semester, or even just a few session to prep for a test or an ACT/SAT.

I am very flexible and easy going, and willing to meet your needs! Please reach out and give me a call.

The biggest perk of my job is when I see students who think that "math is not for them" or "they stink at math" begin to find success and understanding with the material. I love meeting new people, learning their story, and making their time working on their math enjoyable and productive.

Relatable with students. Nice guy. Willing to try to teach different methods for those who don’t understand the first way. Generous with time outside of class despite his busy schedule. Fair grader. Loves other things than just math. Approachable for help.

Frequently asked questions

Before our first session I will connect with new clients to better understand why they are in need of a tutor and how I can help. I then like to dive right into the math content our first meeting, making adjustments and creating new strategies as I identify the students strengths and weaknesses.

I have plenty of my own resources and materials, but also love using students books/workbooks/online homework etc to help them find success.

I am going into my 7th year of teaching this fall, and have taught all levels high school math the past 6 years. I am a certified teacher in the state of IL.

I usually charge 75$ for 60 minute sessions, and 100$ for 90 minute sessions.

I was a Teach For America (TFA) corps member in 2012, and have been in the math classroom ever since. I love what I do.

I have worked an incredibly wide range of students - from students with math disabilities who struggle, to the more high flyer and AP level math students. I am adaptable to meet your needs.
