Rachel Math Tutoring
About
Hello,
I'm a Junior High Math teacher. I have a B.A. in Elementary Education and a concentration in mathematics. When I was younger I hated math and almost failed middle school math. Then, High School came and something clicked. So now, I feel it's my job to help all those struggling students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First things first, I need to get to know them and they need to get to know me. The first session we'd talk a lot about ourselves, interests, and hobbies. Then, we'd talk about math, and why it's difficult, or what specific topics we're struggling with. Then, I'd give a few related problems to that topic and try to figure out where the errors or struggles are.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a junior high math teacher with an endorsement in math. I've also tutored before in 4th grade math.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a variety of students. Ones with several ability levels.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a tutor in your area of expertise?
Pick someone who you feel you can talk to and trust. This tutor is working for you, so make sure you feel comfortable with them.
What questions should students think through before talking to tutors about their needs?
Am I willing to work? Am I willing to take advice and do as the tutor suggests? A tutor can only help as much as you are willing to try.
