How did you get started teaching?
I have dreamed about being a teacher since I was very small. I used to play “School” in my basement with my grandma. I am passionate about helping people grow academically. I always knew this was the calling for me.
What types of students have you worked with?
I worked as a Title I teacher and RTI teacher where I taught both struggling learners and gifted learners. I have taught all age groups and am familiar with their skills and abilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
This past school year I had a student in my class who, in August, told me he hated reading. I learned that this was because he was not a strong reader. I worked with him daily to improve his skills, comprehension, and fluency, and by the end of the year, he not only enjoyed reading but showed significant academic growth in that subject area.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you reach out to the teacher and ask any questions you may have. This will help ensure that this teacher is a good fit for your needs.
