Corcoran Academic Connections provides students with a variety of academic and organizational techniques and strategies to be more successful in school. In addition, Corcoran Academic Connections helps students connect what they are learning in their courses to the real world and provides students with a platform to reach their potential and achieve their passions.
I absolutely love education and working with students of all ages. I feel that it is important to make a connection with each student I work with, and I pride myself on personalizing each tutoring session so that the student feels heard, feels successful, and wants to continue working on improving his/her academic skills and building confidence throughout the process.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Prior to meeting with a student, I speak with the student and/or parent to get a better understanding of the exact services each is seeking and improvements that each would like to see achieved. After learning a bit more about the student and his/her learning style, I put together a personalized plan to help the student best achieve his/her goals and to feel more successful and passionate about his/her studies.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to being a certified K-8 teacher, I have had much experience working with traditional and non-traditional learners, from those who are struggling academically to those students who are looking to be challenged and/or want to pursue a personal academic goal or passion. I have been trained in a variety of methods in both language and math and have presented at conferences throughout my teaching career. I work with students, their parents, and the community to help each child achieve at his/her highest level.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My fee is $40 per hour. This includes being available throughout the week to help the student with any questions they may have in regards to the work we complete together, as well.
What types of students have you worked with?
I enjoy working with all students of all ages and academic levels.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise the student and parent to "interview" the tutor to ensure it is a good match. I pride myself on connecting with my students and having genuine interest in their academic goals and their lives.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
My first question is what are you passionate about? What do you want to excel at? What are your best qualities and/or attributes? From there, we discuss the areas that the student would like to improve and create a personalized plan to do just that.
