Math Total-ly Matters
About
I appreciate the need to get to know my students on a more personal level, so that they trust me enough to ask the hard/embarrassing questions. I enjoy building those relationships and then learning how to teach each individual student in the way that suits them best. Seeing every bit of improvement and rise in confidence means so much!
I enjoy breaking math down into words and symbols that my students can understand and watching them become better math students. I also love to find new techniques that make the study of math seem easier to them. That is why I have adopted the "flipped" method for my tutoring sessions. Seems to work very well.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I start working with a new student, I have them take a placement test that's appropriate for their age to help me understand where they are and where they need to be. Then we can come up with an effective plan, together (the student, their parent(s), and I), to achieve the goal. I also like to give them a tour of all of the resources I use online and how to navigate them.
