Tutoring Services
About
Hello! My name is Colleen! I have a master's degree in child and adolescent psychology with extensive classroom and tutoring experience. I have taught a variety of subjects and have over 13 years of experience working with students of all age levels and abilities. I have a special education background and can work with those students who have learning disabilities, ADHD, and high functioning autism. The subjects I teach are biology, physical science, geometry and English, psychology, philosophy, executive function, and study skills, as well as writing. Because I earned my degree as an adult (over 30), I am especially sensitive to the unique challenges experienced by adult learners. The subjects I tutor on Chegg are psychology and philosophy, however, I am willing and able to tutor other college-level subjects, if they are within my purview. I am also a certified paralegal, having received my post-bachelor certification from Roosevelt University in Chicago. I was employed for 14 years in both the public and private sectors as a paralegal, during which time I developed excellent writing and research skills. Aside from my academic background, this extensive writing experience has enabled me to become an effective writing tutor. I am also available to assist with resumes, college essays, professional writing, study skills, and organizational skills. I would appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your tutoring needs! Thank you!
I am a patient, knowledgeable, and dedicated educator, who truly enjoys teaching and helping others reach their full potential. It feels great knowing that I’m making a difference in someone's educational experience. I believe that each student is different and that everyone learns differently. That being said, I do my best to determine what those learning styles are and from there, address concepts in a way that is easily understood. To me, there is nothing more rewarding than to be working with a student, and suddenly seeing something "click" for them.
