About

From January 2015 to June 2017, I tutored elementary and middle school students in all subjects. In February 2018, I started teaching Spanish to students grades K to 2. I facilitate meetings with other instructors to discuss problems that have come up, brainstorm lesson plans and serve as a resource for instructors. In September 2018, I became a tutor and teaching assistant for Spanish 101 and 102. I have a concentration in Education Studies and have completed coursework and teacher trainings including but not limited to the Principles of Education, Language Pedagogy: The Theory & Practice of Teaching and Learning Languages, and the Organic World Language Teacher Training.

I love helping students succeed. I am patient, kind, and supportive toward all of my students and believe that a key part of academic success comes from a good learning environment. Students need to be encouraged and supported to accomplish all that they are capable of.

Rosie was an excellent tutor. She walked me through solving statistics problems step-by-step. She was patient, kind, and helpful and most importantly pushed me to think things through and made me believe that I could solve problems myself.

Frequently asked questions

Typically, I will first assess what a student knows by asking them to explain what they can. This reinforces the knowledge that they have (teaching someone else makes increases memory and comprehension of a subject) and gives me an idea of where they are struggling. Then, I go from there.
