Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Usually I like to give a new student a mini test to see what level he/she is at. Once that is done I then know what areas needs to be focused on. I also like to speak to my students and find out why they feel like their grades may not be where they want them to be. The most important thing I do is ask them do they want my help because if a student doesnt want help then they will not take in what they are being taught.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked for a lot of tutors and have been tutored myself once and what I have gathered is that every person has there own way of learning things. I dont have a specific guide that I follow because everybody is different. I have been trained by other tutors to find out what is best for you.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Message them and have a convesation with them. You need to make sure you are comfortable and that you will get the most out of that specific tutor. ask them ask many questions you can think of. If they dont like it when yoou are asking them thousands of questions then dont bother.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you willing to sit down and listen to someone else. Are you only doing this because someone asked you to or do you really want help. Remember that those who dont want help will not listen when others are helping. Ask yourself do you care about what happens with your grades.
