My name is Sean Ory and I have been a middle school math teacher for 23 years in Illinois and Arizona while holding a Professional Educator License in Mathematics for grades 6-12. I pride myself in creating positive relationships with my students while making math engaging, fun and meaningful. I can provide homework support, test preparation, review of concepts and preview upcoming material. Utilizing learning styles that work best for you and understanding challenges offer opportunities for growth, I can help as you persevere to be the best math student you can be.
I most enjoy seeing my students gain confidence as they reflect on their growth and as their ability to solve challenging problems continually imporoves.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Each student has a different expectation of what they need from their tutor. Typically, I like to identify with the student what support they are looking for from me. Then I guide our sessions to meet those needs. With my background as a math teacher I can also see the larger picture and offer guidance on what might benefit the student as well. A typical session can include re-teaching of concepts learned in class, homework support, preview of upcoming units and review of concepts previously learned.
