Tigger English Tutoring
About
I work avidly with students to determine their goals and assess their learning preferences, strengths, and weaknesses to individualize instruction and guide students toward developing independence and success in both study/learning skills and those specific to English Langauge Arts. My teaching style is friendly and fair. I believe in positive reinforcement and encouragement but will always be honest and straightforward with feedback and suggestions.
With 12 years of teaching experience, I am a tenured English and Communications teacher at Downers Grove South High School. I also have experience with one-on-one tutoring of both junior high and high school levels. I tutored struggling freshman in our after school program for 6 years.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Illinois, earning the Bronze Tablet academic award and acceptance into Phi-Beta-Kappa.
I have two Master's degrees. The first is an MA in English Literature from DePaul University and the second an MS in Teaching and Learning from the University of St. Francis.
