Our high schooler has always despised math but Namita has gotten through to him and made his material relatable. His retention on the subject is better, his grade in math drastically improved and he loves his tutoring sessions with her! Truly a huge blessing and so thankful to have found her!

Namita tutored my son in math when he was in 7th and 8th grade, until she moved. Namita is extremely patient and worked hard to not just teach the math lesson to my child - she taught in a way that increased his self-confidence! This was the biggest win in my opinion! His mental math skills improved as he worked with Namita as well, which is definitely a skill he will benefit from for the rest of his life. Thank you!!

My son was really struggling with math in general. After being tutored just a few times he had a better understanding and really started trying. His grades moved up. We are sorry to lose her do to moving, but very thankful.

    Frequently asked questions

Getting to know the student's personal interests, and strengths/weaknesses in the subject matter is an important first step. By working with the student, I learn what strategies work best with each individual. I also focus on asking questions to the student and parents about what mode of learning is best for the child. Playing a game (on boards or electronically) related to the content will ease the child and we will get lots of work done as well!
I am certified to teach in Illinois and Texas. Here are my certifications: -General/Core Education, K-8th -Mathematics, K-12th -Gifted Education, K-12th -Specialized in Math, Language Arts, Social Sciences, General Sciences, 6-8th
My price per session ranges from $55-$65 per hour. I offer a $5/hr discount if the student wants to do virtual tutoring.
I am a Golden Apple Foundation Scholar (Illinois) which is an award I won as a senior in high school in 2007; additionally, it is a pre-service training program for young adults passionate about teaching.
I have taught all ages K-12th grade and college level students. The majority of my experience is in teaching mathematics. I have spent several years also teaching English/Language Arts. I have taught in the inner city of Chicago, suburban Chicago and suburban Dallas; in large and small school districts, and private tutoring and college test preparation sessions.
My husband and I are licensed foster parents. We had the opportunity to do respite care for a teenager during Winter Break this past December. Thinking back on all the big and small adventures we shared during those few days together brings a smile to my face and warmth in my heart! We made homemade macaroons (they were GOOD!), volunteered with Feed My Starving Children at the Irving Convention Center, visited the Zoo Lights in Dallas and walked around gazing with homemade hot cocoa in hand! It was the best.
Seek a teacher who is curious, patient, and is able to meet the student at the level of understanding they are at in the moment. I have a passion for patiently teaching students the "WHY" behind how the math works - this helps make math make sense and boost the student's understanding to the next and deeper level!
Things to reflect on as you work towards improving in your studies: -What are your areas of strengths and weaknesses? -What is/are your best learning styles? *don't hesitate to share that with your teacher* -What tools and strategies do I know or want to learn that can help me be successful? I believe it's my job to help students be more reflective and curious in their learning process. This metacognition allows them to be more aware of themselves. So, it's alright if they don't know the answers to these questions yet - we will figure it out together in the early sessions!
