My son was really struggling with math in general. After being tutored just a few times he had a better understanding and really started trying. His grades moved up. We are sorry to lose her do to moving, but very thankful.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Getting to know the student's personal interests, and strengths/weaknesses in the subject matter is an important first step. By working with the student, I learn what strategies work best with each individual. I also focus on asking questions to the student and parents about what mode of learning is best for the child. Playing a game (on boards or electronically) related to the content will ease the child and we will get lots of work done as well!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

i am certified to teach in Illinois and Texas. Here are my certifications:

-General/Core Education, EC-6th

-Mathematics, EC-12th

-Gifted Education, EC-8th

-Language Arts, Social Sciences, General Sciences, 6-8th

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My price ranges from $35-$45 per hour. I do offer a $5/hr discount if the student can meet me at a local library in my area.

How did you get started teaching?

I am a Golden Apple Foundation Scholar (Illinois) which is an award I won as a senior in high school in 2007; additionally, it is a pre-service training program for young adults passionate about teaching.

What types of students have you worked with?

All ages K-12th grade, mostly in mathematics and language arts. I have taught in the inner city of Chicago, suburban Chicago as well as in a large and small school districts.
