What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I'd begin by reaching out to the student to discuss their current approach towards their coursework and what issues they're having in regards to it. Secondly, I'd create materials for a lecture to refer to and practice examples to go along with. Lastly, I'd clearly communicate with the student to reflect, review, and affirm that the topic was comprehended.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an Associate in Engineering Science. I'm a third year Engineering Physics student at the University Of Illinois at Chicago. I have been a freelance private tutor off and on for the past 5 years, specializing in calculus, General Chemistry, and physics.

My standard pricing system is based around the course level and time duration.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started into tutoring in 3rd grade. My 3rd grade teacher was a teaching assistant to my 1sr grade teacher. They had a strong professional relationship which led me to be allowed to assist in tutoring 1st graders in reading and math for an hour a day.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with 1st year college students, high schoolers, and elementary students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent client of mine missed a long duration of school due to illness, and needed assistance with catching up and finishing the minimum required for her to graduate that year. She is now on the Dean's list at her respective university.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The advice I would give to students looking to hire a teacher in my area of expertise is to watch out for tutors that enjoy tutoring, that have solid communication and interpersonal skills, and that are empathetic and patient in regards to your struggles.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should ask themselves if the issues their having is a material comprehension issue or a work ethic issue before talking to teachers about their needs.
