Pam Stone
About
I am a retired high school math teacher. I taught for over 20 years, mostly algebra and geometry. I love finding ways to help students understand all levels of math. I will break down even the most complex, multi-step problems into bite-size pieces so that you can follow each logical step to a final solution. I can help you fill-in knowledge gaps, review or preview during summer breaks to get you ready for your next school year, help with homework or help you get caught-up after an illness or absence, extend your knowledge to get ahead with coursework, or give study tips for upcoming tests.
I enjoy meeting new people! I have a dog named Callie, I am currently learning about astronomy and art, and I love to travel and see new places! I look forward to hearing from you.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first Zoom consultation is free! It's important for both of us to understand needs and expectations.
We decide on a convenient time and location to meet. I have afternoon, evening, and weekend appointments available.
Finally -- the best part -- we get to do some math!! Yay!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a retired high school math teacher, and I have taught Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trig, College Algebra, and Pre-Calc! I have also taught at a local community college, and I have an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge per hour-long session, and the first consultation hour is free. After 10 paid sessions, the 11th is free.
How did you get started teaching?
I taught my first student when I was 5 -- and my student was my 3-year-old sister. My dad built us a playhouse in our backyard -- complete with a blackboard and chalk! I have been teaching someone ever since then!
What types of students have you worked with?
I teach all levels and abilities of high school students. I have also taught adult learners of all abilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am a Grandma to Lily, who is 3 years old, and her baby brother is on the way!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Meet them, and see if there is a connection. You will not learn from someone if you do not like them.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should be honest about why they are seeking a tutor, and be able to explain their definition of a successful outcome from the tutoring.
