About

I have been a math and test prep tutor for various reputable companies including Varsity Tutors and Arbor Bridge over the years. During this time, I worked with three students who were struggling to pass a math-based class - all three passed with flying colors! I was a math major in college and I use math frequently in my day job in corporate strategy, so tutoring math is a great fit for my background.

My per-session price includes time I spend planning your lesson and grading any work you submit to me. For every hour I spend working with you, I expect to spend at least 20 minutes preparing for our lesson. This will ensure I’m ready to use our time together efficiently and teach you in structured manner.

    Frequently asked questions

Before setting up a tutoring regimen with any student, I prefer to have a call or video chat with them and their caregivers for 15 minutes, free of charge.

During this time, I aim to do the following:

    * better understand the student and their caregivers' needs and ensure I'm the right tutor for their job.

    * understand the student's learning style and ensure I will be able to develop a teaching/learning plan which is optimal for the student

    * ensure personality fit between myself, the student, and the student's caregivers. As in any working relationship, it's essential that everyone involved in the tutoring process is able to get along well and understand each other.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics from Butler University and a Master of Science in Economics from the reputable London School of Economics and Political Science. My rigorous quantitative academic background makes me a solid math and economics tutor. I write and speak to broad, important audiences every day as part of my day job in corporate strategy. This has honed my ability to write and speak in the most concise, eloquent, persuasive, and easy-to-understand manner possible.

Having been a National Merit Semifinalist (my PSAT score in the top 0.5% nationally) and scored well above 90 percentile on each section of the SAT and GRE, I know how to ace standardized tests.

I typically charge $60/hr for tutoring for high-school students and younger. This rate applies to tutoring for college-admission tests such as the SAT and ACT. I charge $70/hr for college course and GRE tutoring.

Having worked for large, reputable tutoring companies including ArborBridge and Varsity Tutors, I know these companies can charge astronomical hourly rates. As a freelance tutor, I don't have to give a huge portion of my earnings to a middleman company I work for. This enables me to keep my rates reasonable for my students!

I do occasionally offer discounted rates for long-term tutoring arrangements.

As a senior in high school, I tutored my good friend's little brother in Chemistry and English. I realized quickly that I loved the satisfaction that comes with helping others learn and that I had a knack for explaining complicated material in a logical, easy-to-understand manner. My empathy for my students went a long way in building rapport and making my students feel comfortable asking me questions.

I continued tutoring, both as a part-time job and on a voluntary basis, throughout undergrad and graduate school. I did this both freelance and working for various reputable tutoring companies such as ArborBridge, Varsity Tutors, and Chegg.
