About
When I took Calculus in high school, I hated it and thought I would never understand it. In college, I dedicated time to retake the courses and fell in love with the material. I spent four years guiding other students through the courses. Because I struggled, I knew all the places where common mistakes are made and can always reassure students they are not the only ones. I love to create lesson plans and practice exams for students to better help their learning.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When starting with new students, I like to learn a little bit about them, where they are in their coursework, and how much they are understanding. If students have struggled with previous material, I like to go back and work on strengthening their understanding before progressing forward. I also like to ask students for their syllabus so I can know ahead of time the material to prepare for.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with a B.S. and Masters of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During my time there, I spent four years as a tutor. I did both one-on-one tutoring and small group tutoring with up to 15 students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Due to my experience and degrees, I charge $18/hour. If I have to travel to you, I charge $5/half hour of travel time. I will accept discounted prices for 5 or 10 hours agreed in advanced.
How did you get started teaching?
I did one-on-one tutoring with friends in high school and decided to pursue it as a part-time job while getting my degree. As a sophomore, I started tutoring small group sessions (1-4 students) and walk-in tutoring. I later advanced to one-on-one tutoring along with larger group tutoring (10-15 students)
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with college freshmen and sophomores.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
When looking for a tutor, make sure you find someone who is passionate about helping you learn the material. Getting a good experience out of tutoring has a lot to do with how well you two work together.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
