Tutoring By Trish
About
Hello!
My name is Trish and I am a K-9 certified elementary teacher. I have taught in 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th grade classrooms. I have also taught several years in a preschool setting. Most recently I homeschooled my 10-year old son as we traveled around the world.
I loved the one-on-one experience with my son, and I look forward to helping your elementary student succeed in math and english!
What I enjoyed most about teaching my son was the flexibility to stop where he was struggling and spend more focussed time on understanding the material. This experience built confidence in his ability to overcome challenges.
I find it rewarding to build trust with a student that creates the best environment to learn.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I meet a new student, it is important to me that we get to know a little bit about it each other and feel comfortable in the teachin setting. I like to start out with a quick get-to-know you game, and then learn about the areas I can help the student improve. In the beginning it is important to build trust and confidence.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a teaching degree from National-Louis University that I received in 2009. Most recently I spent three years teaching at the preschool level, but in the past I've taught in elementary settings. I really enjoy one-on one teaching experiences!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing is $45 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I loved being a student growing up, and as an adult, I loved to continually learn. Inspiring and encouraging students to learn I find extremely rewarding, and there is nothing like seeing the confidence in a student's smile when they've achieved something they thought difficult.
I also had so many wonderful teachers in my life that really made a difference.
