About

I will make sure that the student learns the material that is required. The teaching method that I usually follow is the Socratic Method. I will also try my best to make the tutoring sessions fun and relate the lessons to real life experiences if needed. I have experience tutoring high schoolers and college students. I have also helped middle school students and elementary school students with assignments.

I love explaining concepts to people and see their smile when they finally understand something that they were struggling with.

I felt no judgment while asking even the simplest questions. Working alongside Harold was comfortable and I was able to learn and relearn many things quickly. If asked, I would recommend him to anyone who also struggles in math.

Frequently asked questions

I usually try to get to know my students at a personal level so I can get an understanding of what they are interested in. I do this to see if I can implement something of my student's interest into what we are learning and to try to make it more fun for them. I also sometimes use this information to make it more simple to understand certain subjects if I see that they are struggling in understanding a concept.

I have a high school diploma from the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. I have gone to college for one year so far.

I usually charge $20/hour, but the price might increase depending on the difficulty of the subject. However, this would be decided ahead of time.

I got started teaching when I was in high school by teaching elementary, middle school, and high school kids in various subjects such as different levels of math and sciences. When I was in college I became a math tutor for all of the math general education courses and some of the specialized math classes.

This event took place almost 4 years ago, but there was one kid that other tutors have given up on, but I like a challenge so I decided to try to help him understand. I talked to the student and realized that he was into cars so I implemented that into an engineering lesson that was being taught about kinetic and potential energy. That was one of the first lessons that I helped him understand and later I helped him understand other lessons through car references when I could. I still remember the student's smile when he understood the lessons and that made me feel happy.

The advice that I would give a student looking to hire a teacher in my area of expertise is to select a teacher that they feel comfortable around or that they think seem friendly so that they are comfortable asking them questions.
