About
I have worked with young children in multiple settings from youth groups to substitute teaching to teaching at a private school. I have a bachelors in History and working toward finishing a second bachelors in Math with a teacher's certification for 6th through 12th grade. However, I have tutored students younger than 6th grade.
I truly enjoy working with students and seeing how different perspectives or simply explaining things in a different manner can turn light bulbs on and watch the joy they have in finally grasping a concept or subject matter that they've really struggled with.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I prefer to encourage students to maintain great learning practices such as looking at mistakes or a bad grade on a test not to see their failures but rather as a simple evaluation process of what went wrong and what they can do to correct that. Even great mathematicians make errors all the time but they learn from their mistakes so that they can improve. It's not a contest to see who can get the highest grades but a self evaluation process that can continue throughout their life and be used in all areas of their life.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taught in public and private schools, primarily as a substitute. I have tutored students through the company ID Tech and have tutored a number of students in person around the central Illinois area.
