About
My tutoring services stand out because it is personalized to fit the needs, learning styles, and schedule of the student. I do not try to force you to fit into material that makes you uncomfortable. I find ways to fit the material to you. I work with you first to find your learning styles and set some goals, and we work together to achieve those goals in the way that best works for you. I have had years of tutoring and teaching experience, and I have a degree in Elementary Education that makes me equipped to teach multiple subjects to various age groups.
Tutoring/teaching for me is not a job. It is my passion, my motivation, and my inspiration. I love doing what I do and I know that I can do it well. Seeing the lightbulb go off in a student that has been struggling or unmotivated with the material is an amazing sight to see. Seeing a student's confidence grow in an area he used to be uncomfortable with makes you want to jump for joy. Kids deserve a happy teacher and I believe that my enthusiasm for learning and teaching can be contagious to my students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It is important to get to know the student first and see what works for them and what does not work for them. Every student is different and their learning style and background is very important to the tutoring process. Once I get a sense of the student and where their baseline is, we will set goals together. Using these goal, I will set up a learning plan that is personalized to the specific students' needs and schedule.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I have had experience teaching in classrooms K-8, and I have had experience tutoring students as young as 2 years old and as old as 16 years old. I have also worked in a daycare for four years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing can be worked out with clients, depending upon their situation. Otherwise, my standard rate for online tutoring sessions is $20 an hour, per student.
How did you get started teaching?
I have wanted to be a teacher my entire life. I studied elementary education in college and worked in early childhood education for several years. I have had experience in both teaching and tutoring various age groups and subjects. Working with kids and seeing the lightbulbs go off as we tackle the learning process together is my passion.
What types of students have you worked with?
Ages: 2 years old to 16 years old
Subjects: General subjects (Math, English, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Art) and a few specialized high school subjects (Expository Writing, Fiction Writing, Literature, American History, Social Issues, Sociology, Ethics, Spanish 1, and Keyboarding)
I have worked with students of many different backgrounds and learning styles. While my degree is not in Special Education, I have had some classes and some experience working with students with special needs.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, I was able to work with some elementary students on their writing and public speaking. It was amazing to see how they grew and improved after each session. I made sure to keep their work and recordings from the beginning of our meetings so that I could show them (and their parents) how far they had come by the end of our meetings. Seeing their eyes light up and their heads stand tall with confidence was an amazing sight to see. They saw evidence of their growth and improvement and that confidence they gained can only make them grow even more without me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a tutor that caters to you and your needs, rather than their "teaching style" or their subjects requirements. It is important to find a tutor that allows the subject to fit for you, rather than forcing you to fit into a subject you already do not feel comfortable in. This is important for young elementary students, but it is just as crucial for high school and college students, as well.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
This is something that I, as your tutor, can help you with as well. It is important to think about your own strengths first. With what subjects and topics do you feel comfortable or confident? Where do you see room for improvement or where do you feel uncomfortable? What are your goals? What would you want from a teacher or tutor? What motivates you? These are just some of the questions it is important to think about as the student, and I can help you reach the answers so we can achieve great things!
