About

Hi, my name is Maeve! I am a rising sophomore at the University of Southern California. I believe my young age is beneficial to my tutoring because I use the information that I teach daily. This keeps me refreshed on the material and helps me to understand the way your child was originally taught, so I can better know how to adapt and use new strategies if needed.

I enjoy tutoring because I love helping people in any way that I can. Ever since I first started learning math, I liked teaching my friends and classmates when they didn't understand. Being a student myself, I can better understand any difficulties a student might be having with their learning, allowing me to teach in different ways depending on how they learn best!

I have worked as a professional tutor for 5 years and have assisted 8 students improve their math/science knowledge, testing strategies, and confidence in their academic abilities over several years. I’ve taught math ranging from 4th grade to 12th grade (AP Calculus).

I earned a 36 on the ACT, and I use my personal test prep resources and strategies to help my clients adequately prepare for the ACT and attain their own personal goal.

    Frequently asked questions

I love taking on new students and learning about them, their experiences, and their unique learning strategies. When working with a new student, I take some time to introduce myself, get to know them a bit, and then ask questions to get a feel for what material they’ve learned so far and what material they’ve especially struggled with. I find it very helpful to also ask about how their current professor (if applicable) teaches and if they find this teaching strategy helpful. If they believe another strategy would be more beneficial to their learning, I know how to adjust my teaching style to help them the most that I can. And then we start learning!
I graduated from Saint Viator high school in Arlington Heights. Here I received an excellent college-preparatory education that helped me gain admittance into the University of Southern California, where I currently study Pharmacology. I have the most experience in tutoring math, which I have done for the past five years. I have studied math through Calculus III and am therefore qualified to help students in any area of high school math. I also offer test preparation services, as I earned a 36 on the ACT and have learned from my own preparation how to aid other students in this process.
I charge an hourly rate which is the typical length of the lessons I offer, however I am always willing to adjust the length of lessons based on each individual student’s needs. This rate depends on a student’s age and the difficulty level of the material, but is typically ~$40/hr for math/science and ~$50/hr for test preparation.
I have always loved teaching/tutoring/coaching and was fortunate to get my first tutoring opportunity as a freshman in high school, and I’m grateful to say I still tutor my first client five years later! Throughout high school and college I continued tutoring several students.
I’ve worked with students ranging from 4th grade all the way through high school seniors. I found this to be very rewarding as every single client was working with different material at varying difficulty levels, so I was challenged to adjust my teaching style based on each student I worked with. Most of my experience is in tutoring math, but I have also tutored AP Biology and ACT prep.
