How did you get started teaching?
While working at Micron Technology in Boise, Idaho, I was asked to teach math classes through College of Southern Idaho to Micron employees who were studying to become technicians or engineers. In time, this led to me being hired as an adjunct professor for both College of Southern Idaho and Boise State University.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught math to adults at Micron Technology studying to become technicians and engineers. I have taught math to college students (young and old) at both Boise State University and the College of Southern Idaho.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am very fond of the Oregon Coast! We had the opportunity to enjoy a week there with our entire family of 24 recently and it was wonderful!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
First and foremost I would tell the student to look for a teacher who has the proper credentials, is knowledgeable in the subject matter, and one they would feel comfortable with.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What am I comfortable with and confident about up to the point where I am struggling? What specifically is where I become lost? Have I read the material in the book and have I understood the concept examples?
