About
I am passionate about math and science, and want to share that passion with the world.
I am currently a PhD student at Iowa State University in the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology graduate program looking to earn a few extra dollars and gain some teaching experience outside of formal classes during my summers.
I have formally taught several undergraduate level introductory biology courses, and have experience tutoring students in chemistry, mathematics, statistics, and biology sucessfully. I hold a bachleors of science in microbiology and a bachelor of arts in biochemistry, and have 3 years of industry research experience in both circadian biology and bioinformatics.
I have been told by several students I have a knack for explaining things in a simple and understandable manner, and was responsable for them passing certian classes.
I enjoy teaching, and enjoy the subjects. I want to show people mathematics and science are not 'boring' or 'usless' subjects.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every student is different. Generally I try to figure out exactly where the student is having difficulities. I then try various explanations of the underlying concepts until I feel the student feels they have 'gotten it'. Then run a few practice problems to solidify.
