Scherb Simply School
About
My love of learning and exploring has given me a desire to share with others through teaching the subjects I know and love best. Students who I teach will receive a non-pressured atmosphere where learning can flourish. I believe learning should be fun, no matter your age. Each of my students is unique and therefore requires my time to discover how they learn best when putting together lesson plans for our sessions together. I have over 20 years of experience working professionally with elementary and middle school age children and a degree in elementary education (with an endorsement in social studies/history that covers teaching through high school). I also have three years experience teaching private ESL classes.
I enjoy the challenge of creating new and exciting ways for my students to learn. I love seeing a student's confidence grow as they begin to succeed in a subject that was formally very difficult for them.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When parents and students come for our first session, we will have a consulting meeting. I will ask questions to determine what tutoring needs the student has as well as the desires of the parent/guardian. Then I will assess where the student currently at as far as mastery of different subjects.
Following our consulting session, I will put together an eight session plan. Following the eight sessions, we can re-assess to see what should come next!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have Bachelors degrees in Elementary Education and Liberal Arts from Simpson College. I also have a diploma from the Children's Ministry Institute, where I took training specific to my job of working with children through Bible clubs.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I ask a flat fee of $20 per 30 minute session.
How did you get started teaching?
I have desired to teach since I was old enough to boss my siblings around! I love working with students and seeing them grow and succeed!
What types of students have you worked with?
My focus has primarily been with elementary and middle school age students, ESL students, and a few with exceptional learning needs.
