Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically spend the first session with a student giving them a short test, and asking how they got their answers to understand how they think about math problems, and also gauge where exactly they are in terms of material.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have tutored for about one year. I have worked with children for a majority of that year, and also have ACT prep experience. I raised my two ACT students composite score by an average of 7.5 points.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Typically I charge $20-$35 an hour. I give a free lesson if I am refered to anyone else that leads to a new student. ACT prep costs $35 an hour, and regular homework/school help costs $20-$30 an hour depending on the grade level.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always loved math, and loved learning. I enjoy learning so much that I wanted to help others learn, and get that same great feeling. I started with ACT prep, and quickly started working with kids of all ages.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice to a student looking for a teacher would be to find one that you enjoy interacting with, because in my experience the teacher is everything.
