I'm a twenty-six-year-old doctoral student in physics at the University of Iowa. I have four years of experience as a teaching assistant and five years of experience as a tutor. I have tutored students in dozens of different math and physics subjects.
I enjoy helping students of all ages achieve their academic goals. These subjects are often needlessly confusing, and I like to explain things as simply as possible.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to start with a discussion about the student's academic goals and skills. We can then develop the lesson plan most appropriate for the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a doctoral student in theoretical physics at the University of Iowa. I specialize in quantum information and quantum computing. I have four years of experience as a teaching assistant and five years of experience as a tutor. I received bachelor's degrees in mathematics and physics from Kansas State University.

I charge $25 per hour for lessons. 30 minute lessons are $15.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching as a student at Kansas State University. I was a teaching assistant for an algebra course, and I was also a mathematics tutor for the university.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have primarily tutored college students, but I enjoy working with younger students as well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I taught a college lab course this semester for physics majors. The material was interesting, and several students referred to me as "Corona With Lime."
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise a student to find a teacher who is patient, encouraging, and invested. You also want a teacher who has a strong understanding of the material and can explain it clearly.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should simply identify areas they want to improve and think about how a teacher could help them.
