What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Set up a short time for the first tutoring session and see how it goes. No obligations or hurt feelings if it doesn't work out. At least we've both have a new friend!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Master's degree in Engineering and 40+ years of mentoring and teaching a wide variety of students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Minimum $30/hour plus $20/hour travel time if more than 20 minutes away.
How did you get started teaching?
Many times informally with friends and relatives even during college. Full time since 2001
What types of students have you worked with?
Young and old, elementary to adult

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be clear about the subject or books you are using so they can be prepared to help.
Be honest about your study habits and the places where you are getting stuck on the subject.
Teachers want to help you, but they need to know you are trying and what you have tried.
Bring example assignments.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is it that you really need?
A super-friendly teacher might motivate you to study harder and that might be all you really need. Are you ready to do the work and put in the time?
What concepts are just confusing you no matter how hard you have tried? Teachers love to know and see evidence that you are really trying.
