AJG Tutoring
About
Since I was a freshman in high school I've been tutoring my fellow peers in a variety of subjects. My strong suits are the STEM subjects and classical literature. I took senior literature classes as a freshman in high school. I was the only sophomore in AP biology and genetics.
My parents have PhDs in biology and chemistry, so that's probably where I get my strong science drive from. I currently have an associates degree in business administration, however I pursued math, chemistry, and chemistry prior to my business degree.

I love helping people! I also can come up with creative ways to solve life's most boring problems!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I'll typically start off with a brief phone call or text exchange to get to know them. I don't want to just be a motonous voice on a screen, or a strange guy in someone's house. During that exchange I'll ask about both personal and school, and then after I'll come up with my idea for a good lesson plan.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Hmmm...I'm not too sure what to say here besides "trust me, I'm smart." How about I boil down my school and work for you. I graduated from Xavier High School in 2014 with a 3.7-something. I also got a 33 on my ACT both times I took it. From there I went to college for 4 years taking courses in chemistry, math, computer science, and business administration before getting my associates degree in business administration in 2018. Why did it take me so long to get this? I loved so many subjects but couldn't decide what degree to get! As for my work career, I started off working at a retail grocery store called Festivsl Foods in customer service in 2013 and ended as the manager of the guest services department in 2019. From there I took a job as an insurance agent and that is where I'm employed today!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I don't have a standard pricing system, so I don't usually give a price quote until I know the situation and figure out how much effort and time I'll need to put in. Once we agree on what I'll be doing, then I'll usually ask you to make me an offer based on length of sessions, number of sessions, and your current financial situation. Learning should never come at the cost of putting food on the table, we're all human and supposed to help a neighbor out so I take every quote on an individual basis.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I know many households are trying to take up homeschooling and I'm here to help! I was homeschooled from fourth grade thru freshman year in high school so I know the ropes!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I have a few questions that I'll generally ask:
1) how do you best learn and retain information - audio, visual, or physical (muscle memory)
2) why do you need my help? Do you need guidance, do you need me to boil down a chapter of a textbook for you, or do you have a specific problem that you're stuck on. No question is too dumb or small - if you want to hire me for a single problem then go for it!
