What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to find the baseline for my students, then review the end goals. From there I can build a lesson plan and work on finding ways to relate the material to other parts of the student's day to help the lessons stick.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in Civil Engineering. I am a trainer/supervisor at my full-time job providing IT Support.

$30/hr + $0.50/mile if outside of the Iowa City area.
How did you get started teaching?
I have helped tutor peers and helped friends' children learn various subjects, primarily math. I have decided to extend that experience into a more professional setting.
What types of students have you worked with?
Primarily High Schoolers, with some college ages for school subjects.
At my primary job, I train 16 yrs old through elderly employees.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be ready to learn, but also make sure the tutor/teacher knows the material.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you feel comfortable with, and at what point do you feel you need more help/guidance?
