I focus on helping students gain a conceptual understanding of the mathematical objects they encounter rather than the usual mechanical approach taught in schools. For my teaching efforts, I was awarded a Teaching Excellence Award from Iowa State University during my time in graduate school.
The best feeling in the world is when a student finally gets over their fear of mathematics and starts enjoying it for the first time.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically start out by listing the topics on which the student wants to focus. I proceed to create a test to gauge the current level of understanding of the student to target certain problem areas. This allows me to better serve the needs of the student by focusing on strengthening basic skills before moving on to more advanced topics. It is necessary to have a strong foundation in order to build upon it.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my PhD in mathematics from Iowa State University in 2022. I have 2 years of teaching experience, ranging from recitation leadership to lead instructorship.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For online services, I charge $30 an hour. That covers the costs of prepping and instruction.
For in-person services, I charge $50 an hour. That covers the costs of travel in addition to prepping and instruction. Plus, there is much more value in receiving in-person services than online.
Note: I only accept cash payments.
