About
My goal is to work myself out of a job! If I work with you, I will give you skills to be more successful as a math learner, so that you can take those skills with you wherever you go. My teaching strategy focuses on problem solving techniques to equip you for your current coursework and for the future.
Those "aha" moments when the lightbulb comes on for a student are the best parts about what I do. I enjoy exploring together and finding connections between concepts or even between disciplines. Math is much better when it's connected to other things in the real world! Some of my favorite moments come from helping students make connections to other topics they love, like art or science or engineering.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I meet a new student I start by asking what their goals are. What is going well, and what would you like to work on together? What learning style works best for you? How can I help you achieve your goals?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have tutored high school and middle school level math since 2013. I have experience both as a contract tutor and as a private tutor, and I'm experienced in a number of visual math learning techniques and problem solving methods to help students increase their learning and improve their class performance. In my undergraduate coursework I took a number of classes in statistics and advanced mathematics, and I have a bachelors and masters degree in the sciences. I have also taught guest lectures in high school classrooms. I look forward to working with your student!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
