Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
As with all things, first we must identify the specific problem as well as the weaknesses and strengths of the student in relation to that/those problem(s).
Once the particulars of the problem have been identified, I work with the student to match a specific approach/method to their aptitudes. This ensures that each student's needs are addressed up front and accounted for.
With these parameters in place, it is simply a matter of working with the student at a pace best suited for them while focusing on reinforcing their strengths and bolstering weaknesses.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University. I have also been tutoring students privately since 2017.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My base rate is $30/hour, with more advanced subjects such as ACT/SAT prep or college course assistance being $45/hour.
This is based on my personal expertise and experience and is within the typical range for private tutoring services.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from the age ranges of kindergarten through college.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that your teacher takes the time to talk with you about what you yourself believe is your greatest challenge with the material. You are the one most familiar with what you struggle with and what you are entirely confident about.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are my needs in the first place?
What is my goal with hiring a teacher/tutor?
Are there any special considerations the teacher/tutor needs to be aware of when meeting with me?
