Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask that students allow a minimum of three sessions before determining whether I am the right fit for them. It takes some time and discussion to get to know one another and figure out learning/teaching styles, areas of strength/improvement, effective/ineffective teaching strategies, etc.
This "getting to know each other" process allows me to be the best tutor possible and meet the student's needs to my best ability. Sometimes, I may determine that I'm not the right fit and I will offer suggestions as to the next steps for the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have more than 15 years experience teaching Special and Deaf Education in all subjects.
I am currently working as an educational Sign Language interpreter for various Deaf and Hard of Hearing students enrolled in college which allows me to stay current with my knowledgeof a variety of subjects.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My fee is $50 an hour for new students. My price includes travel time and mileage. I also offer packages for multiple sessions at a discounted rate.
