Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first step is our process is to administer a free Diagnostic Assessment so we can identify how we can best help each student. The assessment we use is the Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement, the foremost test used by school counselors and placement specialists. It gives us an accurate idea of how a student is performing compared to his/her grade level. Once we have the results, we invite the parents to review the scores and our program recommendations. If you think our program is a good fit, we can then discuss enrollment. The entire process can be done within a day, so we can get your tutoring started as soon as possible!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My background is in the field of education. I have two Masters degrees, in both Teaching and Education. I have also been trained and certified by The Tutoring Center, and have three years of experience as a classroom teacher.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We do not have a standard pricing system per lesson, but we do have a monthly rate of $299 (promotional rate for this season). If this is not what you are looking for, please call to ask how we can structure a plan that works for you. We also offer additional incentives for long-term tutoring. Our SAT/ACT prep programs are priced on an hourly basis.
How did you get started teaching?
I've always been committed to helping students succeed. When I transitioned from being a school teacher to tutoring, I spent time researching different tutoring centers and models. I was very impressed with The Tutoring Center's model and its student-centered approach. I strongly believe in our method and philosophy. Over the past couple of years, I have seen our system in action and have seen dozens of students improve at exceptional rates. With this experience, I can fully and honestly stand by The Tutoring Center's programs.
What types of students have you worked with?
Our students range from grades K-12, and work with us for different reasons. Some students are struggling with their current grade level and need help building their academic skills to catch up to grade level. Other students are enrolled in Enrichment programs because they are working to ahead of their current grade level. Our methods also work very well for students who learn differently. Whether a child has ADHD or a learning disability, our system is designed to work for all types of styles and needs.
