About

I have a passion for helping students strive for excellence in all that they do. I have been a tutor for over five years. I found my experience tutoring both in high school and college. There is great reward in seeing students succeed and grow through your teaching. Currently, I am studying education at Carson-Newman University in Tennessee. I am in my junior year and will graduate in 2021. I am excited to work with you and your child toward a common goal of academic growth.

My favorite part of my job is when the student witnesses the growth that he or she has experienced. There is nothing better than the moment when the lesson we are working clicks in the student's mind and they experience a boost of confidence and intelligence.

Frequently asked questions

I take the time to establish a relationship of trust with my new students and make a point to get to know them before we begin studying. It is important that the student feels safe and heard for any progress to be made.

I have an associate's degree in arts and am currently working towards a bachelor's in education at Carson-Newman University. The education and equipping of the younger generation is my passion. I specialize in Shakespeare with a certificate from Harvard in Shakespearean Studies.

I charge $25 per lesson.

I started tutoring in high school and found a love for teaching as I worked with other students. I have had several teachers that have inspired me in a way that has caused me to follow in their footsteps. These teachers helped me to feel valued, accepted, and capable. I strive to do the same in my classroom.

I have worked with elementary, high school, and college students.

In light of the recent events of Covid-19 and social distancing, I am unable to see students in person. A large part of tutoring elementary level students is reading to them. I expressed to a friend of mine how much I missed reading with these students and my friend gave me the idea to record a video of myself reading one of my favorite children's books and then send it to my students so that we can continue to read together. I was able to record this video and connect with my students even though we are apart for the time being.

I would advise you to take your time to find a tutor that is the right fit for you. Find a tutor with a personality that meshes well with yours and someone who helps you feel comfortable opening up and expressing your true self. It is hard to learn in an uncomfortable situation. Consider making a list of things that you want to find in your tutor and search for someone who fits your criteria the best. I also advise you to find someone who teaches from a place of encouragement rather than criticism as this will help you grow in a more efficient and enjoyable way.

Consider every area you would like to grow in and decide which areas are most important to you. Communicate to your teacher all of the areas and explain the level of importance that each area has to you.
