Hello,
I am a certified general/ special education teacher. I have worked with a variety of age groups from Pre-k to 7th grade. I build a indiviual learning plan for each student. Children learn differnetly at their own pace. I use a variety of ways of teaching to help students maintain focus and retain the information being taught to them.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I give the students an age and grade level assessment to complete. I also talk to the students about their likes and dislikes to create an engaging tutoring session for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our tutors are certified in General and Special Education.

How did you get started teaching?
I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a young kid.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have and still do work with students from General to Special Education.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my 5th grade SLD students went up 10 reading levels. I had another student go up 6 reading levels and the rest went up 3. I had a student get at 87 on their milestones math. I am so very proud of them.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you know why you need a tutor. Asking what type of teaching strategies the teachers use?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What do they want to know?
Are they willing to put in the work to learn it?
