What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First to get to know the student and what their interest are so you can create lessons that spark their interest. Sometimes students are bored with the content of the lessons plus they're not interested creating interest helps create enthusiasm.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been substitute teacher for many years in the state of Georgia. I have a bachelor's degree in geography and many of those undergrad classes where structure for an education degree. And my professional life I prepared lesson plans and instructed adult learners within my field.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard rates begin from $15 to $25 an hour. I require that students schedule a minimum of 3 hours a week depending on the student schedule and the writing subject their involvement.
How did you get started teaching?
I got involved in teaching when my children were in school. I discovered that learning starts at home. From there I began substitute teaching, teaching at my place of worship and continue teaching adults within my field of geography as a consultant. During my masters, and my PhD studies I discovered that I have a talent for essay writing and writing papers. This started my forte into tutoring
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The only advice I would give for those looking for a tutor would be that not all people are the same. Look past stereotypes and many times you can find a tutor that can fit your needs.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask yourself why you're having difficulty. Are you prepared for your classes? Is the subject matter something that interest you? Do you feel that what you're learning is important in your life?
