About
I have always enjoyed math and being able to teach it in creative ways. I am willing to help with all types of math in the elementary setting and can do some high school and college algebra. If I am not sure how to teach a topic I will do the research to learn the topic to teach it.
I love everything about education. The students are my main focus and become "my kids" as I work with them. Math is my favorite subject and I have always had a knack with being able to understand it and help to teach it. I try to find new and interesting ways to teach math and try to use the strengths of the student to make it where they are able to understand.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for working with a new student is first and foremost to get to know the student. It is important to establish a relationship with the child first before you are able to teach them. I like to find out the ways they like to learn and what they think is hard about the subject that we are working on. Then after getting to know them we can begin to discuss the subject and find out what they are struggling with and make them successful.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors and two masters degrees all in education. I take professional development classes as often as I can.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard price is $10 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in first grade. I had always planned to return to my elementary school and teach beside my first grade teacher who made the greatest impact in my educational life. I chose education because I love children and my favorite part of education is when a child has an AHA! moment and realizes they can do the work that they were struggling with.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently a former student found me on FaceBook and told me I had always been her favorite teacher. It is always nice to hear that you made an impression on a child.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who is going to take the time to get to know you and your learning style.
