Diamond Reading
About
I love teaching students to read and seeing their faces when everything starts to click! Small groups and 1:1 reading sessions are my favorite to teach. I also enjoy doing book studies with older kids and digging deeper into text. I also love to introduce students, who don't typically enjoying reading, to books they enjoy.
I have a B.S. in Psychology, MAT in Earlt Childhood/Elementary Education, an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction and a Reading Intervention endorsement. I've taught in a residential treatment center and K-2 grade in Oregon.

How did you get started teaching?
I worked in mental health out of college and wanted to be a therapist. One of my roles was to teach skills lessons and help kids in their classroom. I was told repeatedly that I needed to be in the classroom by fellow coworkers, teachers and parents and ended up switching my career path! I love helping people!
What types of students have you worked with?
I worked in a low socioeconomic, high diversity population throughout the entirety of my career so far. I've worked with students who struggle with behavior and mental health, students who are homeless, students who have experienced trauma, students that don't speak English...just to name some.
