Tami is so patient and kind. But she knows her work. She keeps the person she is tutoring very engaged and encouraged. Excellent! I would choose Tami again.

Ive been working with Tami for well over a year now as she has helped guide me through college level Calculus courses. I was really hoping to find someone that is patient and willing to carefully walk me through difficult to grasp concepts. She is more than willing to personalize her tutoring to your style of learning. Also helps that she has a great sense of humor and is easily approachable. If math gives you any anxiety like it does for me, then Tami is a great choice as she truly helps you believe in your own capabilities and helps you expand them. I cannot recommend working with her enough!

She explains things in a very clear manner and makes sure to go over each step so I understand it which is something that a lot of math teachers lack. I never had a hard time understanding her and everything made so much more sense after meeting with her as opposed to my teachers lectures! Also probably one of the most friendly and understanding teachers Ive ever had.

I loved how kind-hearted and easy-going she was. She is very easy to talk to. Especially when you are having a bad day. When it comes to math, if you do not understand something, she clearly explains it to you. She also teaches very easy and simple ways to do math. It is always a fun and entertaining session.

Ms. Parker (Tami) was an incredible tutor with a natural aptitude for teaching. I used to go to my AP Calculus BC class and leave the class confused and without retaining anything. But Ms. Parker changed that for me and made AP Calculus BC so simple and easy to understand in the kindest way possible. I got an A at the end of the course thanks to her help! If you’re considering getting a math tutor, please get Ms. Parker, I promise you, you won’t regret it! If I ever need another math tutor, I won’t hesitate to get her again.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Depending on the purpose of the tutoring, the needs of the student, and the strengths of the student, I either begin tutoring directly into the subject matter or with diagnostic testing. I create extra practice/homework for my students if desired that I specifically design for them between sessions. I ask my students to send me copies of their assignments, assessments, and often notes so that I can upload them into my classroom. I always want to ensure that my students not only can complete their assignments/assessments accurately, but also understand them!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching math for over 30 years and have tutored 200+ students either in their home, in my home, or online. I have tutored students of all ages in all math courses up through Calculus, Statistics, and College Algebra.
I have been using the online platform I now use for about 3 years and have held 950+ lessons on this platform in the 3 years.
I have also taught many SAT Prep classes, both in the classroom and online. Likewise, I have tutored SAT Prep extensively.
All of this experience has given me the ability to perceive difficulties before they even arise, to explain commonly misunderstood topics in simple ways, and to easily identify students' strengths and weaknesses. From this latter I am able to customize tutoring lessons specifically for each student!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $35 per session, with the sessions lasting anywhere from an hour to an hour and 15 minutes.
How did you get started teaching?
I graduated from Emory University with a BS in Mathematics after longing to be a teacher since the age of 7 - when my younger sister was old enough to be my student! Although I had made all A's in high school in every subject, I was always very excited about math. The more math I learned, the more excited I became and the more eager I became to help others to understand it!
