About this tutor

Hello, my name is Adama and I am a straight-A student in both AP and Honors English, AP Chemistry, AP United States History, Honors World History, Biology, Algebra, AP Psychology, and Geometry. I teach kids in Africa how to read and write, and most importantly prep them for the TOFEL exam. In America, I work on the American system. I won my Honors English and Honors Chemistry academic award and I am the Editor-in-Chief of my school's yearbook. I hope to help you grow to love English, sciences, and social sciences and ace whatever you need.

I tutor in Biology, World History (honors as well), Chemistry, English (AP and Honors), Algebra 2, Algebra 1 and Geometry, U.S History (AP), and AP Psychology. I am also willing to share my transcripts and be as transparent as possible.

Adama was great. My highest grade in Biology prior to tutoring was a B- to C, but on my current test, I got a 92%. We worked hard and she pushed and tutored me to my greatest. I did expect a little more for all my hard work but that's on me. She really did save my grade and now I'm ending with an 88% from a 70% (because of the test and about 3 other homework assignments she helped me with). Hired her again for my midterms that are coming up soon. I met her through my mum and she was also very polite and on time to our meetings.

When I needed help with my term paper I knew It was missing something but was not quite sure what. I sent it to Adama and she got back to me in 2 days with a whole new idea on how I could approach it. Got a 94 on it and this was college work!!!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I like to begin by getting to know the student, like what they need help with, what they like or dislike about English, and I ask them to rate their skill level from 0-10. I then evaluate them and come up with a comprehensive plan to tackle their problem areas.

For other services such as essays or term papers, we get right into it. I see the question or prompt and we begin to brainstorm. I leave room for them to express themselves and at the end, I read through it and give them my notes.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been tutoring for one year and three months. From people who know close to no English to well-rounded students.

I am a high school Junior and my lowest grade in English is an A and this is with taking challenging English classes.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My standard pricing system depends on whether the student is fluent in English, then what they need help with.

Essays: 0-350 words is $15

Regular classes e.g English, Chemistry, Biology, World History, etc tutoring is: $8 per hour (including homework time)

Advanced Placement( AP) classes such as AP English, AP U.S History, etc is: $12 per hour

Non-native speakers: add $2 per price
