How did you get started teaching?
Being a teacher is all I ever wanted to do. In high school, I had the opportunity to go to an elementary school close by and work with small groups of students for 2 hours each day. Teaching is a passion for me and I am very grateful for the opportunity to teach others and for all the teachers that invested in me
What types of students have you worked with?
K-5th grade mostly, regular classroom, tutoring, and one on one with Ed therapy ages 5-16.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
When a 6 year old student with learning difficulties learned to write his name.
a text from a parent of a 5th grader - " E loves coming to work with you, she asked if she could come every day"
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a person with experience and a passion to teach and help students succeed.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is really difficult for me?
Do I typically understand this subject and this is just a new concept that I need extra practice and understanding?
What subjects do I enjoy?
Hiw do I learn best? Visual? I need to see it. Hands on? I need to do it? Auditory? I can listen & I understand.
