About
I enjoy advancing student understanding of mathematics. As a 30 year educator/tutor , I am able to explain content in a way students can comprehend and apply to academic improvement.
I bring to the students 25 years as a Professional Educator in Hillsborough County, Fl. (6th largest district in the USA). During this time, I have been a teacher of Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, College Algebra, Computer Science and Programming (Java & C++).
In addition to my Professional Career, I have actively tutored students for the last 25 years. Tutoring has provided the opportunity for me to create understanding within students and instill confidence to advance and succeed.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If prior student work is available, I review the students work to gain an understanding of their written comprehension. Thoughout the review, I engage the student with questions to gain an understanding of their processing and communication skills. It is often during this review, that I am able to clarify miscomprehensions and establish confidence with the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two Bachelor Degrees, a Masters Degree and a Specialist Degree in Education. I am a 25 year teacher of thousands of students. Additionally, I have privately tutored nearly a thousand more students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $50/hr. for one student/session, $80/hr. for two students/session, and $90/hr. for three students/session.
How did you get started teaching?
I became a teacher out of a desire to help others. I found teaching a natural avenue, one in which I am effective and satisfied.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who have always struggled with math and view it as a means to an end. I have also worked with students who seek understanding and comprehension. I have worked with students with special needs and I have worked with advanced and gifted students. With many of the students I tutor, there is typically a 2 to 4 year relationship. I work with them throughout their secondary and post secondary math classes.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In May of 2020, I finished tutoring a student, Mathew, who I have worked with for the past 4 years. Tutoring began with Geometry in the 9th grade and ended with preparing for the AP Calculus exam. I am so proud to see his advancement with math over the years.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who will provide you with clear and concise explaination of the content. As well, find someone who will understand you. Find someone who will provide you with the confidence to look at math without fear or trepidation.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think through questions about how they learn and what it will take to instill the confidence to master mathematics. Students should focus questions related to miscomprehension of the content and ask questions when they need further explaination or a deeper understanding.
