About
Hello, my name is Debbie V. I graduated from Oral Roberts University with a B.A in Special Education-Learning Disabilities with an area of concentration -Elementary Education. Plus I have completed graduate level courses at Liberty University toward a M.ED in Administration and Supervision. I have taught in basic education and special education programs (such as Language Learning Disabled). For most of my teaching career I have tutored students one on one. I love working with students in a one on one situation because I can base what I am doing on their learning needs and styles.
I often have my younger students tracing and saying their sequencing counting or sight words to help them learn these skills. We often work together on learning new skills then transition to them completing the skill independently. I love to see the students I work with celebrate their new accomplishments. Hearing great updates from school when they come on is something everyone celebrates.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Students are greeted with a get acquainted conversation each visit. Information gained from the parents/or student are used to set our agenda for our sessions. Mastery of skills/word recognition is very important. Various methods will be used based on the students needs and learning style. Previously introduced skills or words will be reviewed for mastery. If successful, new words or skills will then be introduced. The motto "Success breeds success" is important in each session.
