About

I am a retired high school math teacher. My approach is to build a context around the math, explaining not just what to do but why we do it. In many cases, tutoring is the building of confidence by the student in their own capabilities

Dan was a great tutor for our 9th grader! He was very responsive when when needed him last minute and always gave me constructive feedback, not only on our daughter but for us as parents and what we could be doing better to help. You can tell he is really invested in his students and cares about their progress. He also prices fairly. I recommend him to anyone who needs help! He’s considered a trustable tutor by my family and we will use him again if needed.

Dan was very kind and patient. He taught me a lot about College Algebra and helped me catch me in class. I am glad to say that I passed my College Algebra class!!! I wouldn’t have done it without him. I highly recommend him!

Dan not only knows math, he also knows how to teach it! He helped my 17 year old daughter learn how to get past mental blocks that kept her from moving forward. My only regret is he doesnt also teach Chemistry!

Frequently asked questions

We begin by the student explaining where they feel they need to focus and why they find math challlenging.  We focus not just on problem solving but on being able to fluently explain what the topic is about and the tools it provides.

Certified secondary teacher in 4 states.  Degree in Mathematics from UC Berkeley.

Market rate is $50 per hour, which I think is outrageous.  How can a student afford that? I prefer my students pay what they feel they can afford.

My son went from a successful middle school student to a failing high school student.  The "system's" response to a child with the need for support was appalling.  I became a teacher to ensure he received what he needed, and found that I loved it.

All sorts from IB students to less traditionally successful students.
