About
My passion is helping others meet their life goals. I love learning and teaching, and endeavor to make every lesson as fun as possible by using varying modalities to help students retain important information. Equally comfortable working with children and adults, I have been teaching and tutoring for over 14 years. I earned a Master's Degree in Instruction and Curriculum and have taught in both public and private schools. In addition to volunteer work teaching English to refugees of Myanmar, I belong to several professional organizations to keep my knowledge and skills relevant. I look forward to meeting you or your child!
I love seeing my students reach their goals. I find that a mutual respect between teacher and student helps my clients relax and enjoy learning with me. There is nothing more fun than the moment you see that lightbulb go off in a child's head when they understand something new! It's equally enjoyable to hear an adult express a thought in English that they weren't able to express earlier.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My position is that each student has skills and it's important to help students recognize the strengths that they already possess. Starting from a positive helps students open up to strategies that will improve upon their strengths and make learning easier. We focus on those strategies until they become habits and then introduce the next set of strategies. I find that when students can experience success, it makes them more open to new ways to improve.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's degree in instruction and curriculum. I'm a retired teacher who has worked in public and private settings. I also have taught adults English in private and group settings. I am comfortable with a wide age range and diverse backgrounds.
