My first goal is to understand the student as a person and as a learner. I want to be able to connect the student to the learning experience based on their specific needs and background. Making those relevant connections will increase the students' likelyhood in being successful. Those connections make all the difference. I've seen the results in my own middle school and high school classrooms during my 4 years of teaching.
I absolutely love when a student gets an "A-HA" moment when I work with them. The moment when the student says, "Oh! I get it now," is when I feel all our hard work and effort was all worth it.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I follow these steps:
1. Interest Questionnaire and Interview: I want to know the students' interests and hobbies so that I may be able to connect those interests to the topics that the students are learning about.
2. Diagnostic Questionnaire: I want to know the strengths and weaknesses the students have in the subject matter. The diagnostic gives me a snapshot of what the students are able to do at that particular time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a teacher for 4 years now. I have a bachelor's degree in Education, and I have a master's degree in Instructional Technology. I have taught both English language arts and mathematics in middle school and high school.

College Students (College Algebra and Up) - $70/hour
College Students (Paper Writing and Editing) - $65/hour
High School Students (Math and English Language Arts) - $60/hour
Middle School Students (Math and English Language Arts) - $50/hour
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in a middle school in Florida. I've been teaching in Florida ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a diverse population of students, including ELL (English Language Learner), ESE (Exceptional Student Education), advanced, and general education students. I have worked with students who could work in large groups to students who needed one-on-one attention.
