About
I like to help people understand math, not just learning the process or steps, but to understand what it is they are doing and why. I'm good at explaining things in different ways and finding what works for each person.
I live for the moment when the light bulb egnites. When it finally clicks for the student and they realize it's not as hard as they thought it was.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I like to understand what the student truly needs. Next, I assess what the student already knows, identify any potential problem areas, and determine how the student learns best. Then, I develop strategies to meet the student’s needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taught high school math at a charter school located on a Job Corps site, helping students who struggled in traditional school environments. I worked with students at varying levels of proficiency across multiple subjects daily. In addition, I have provided both private tutoring and online tutoring. I will complete my Associate degree in Applied Mathematics by May 2025
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $20 per hour for online tutoring. For in-home tutoring, I add a travel fee of $15 per hour. Let’s break down the cost for a one-hour in-home session that’s 30 minutes away.
First, we calculate the travel time. Since it takes 30 minutes to get to your home and 30 minutes to return, that’s a total of 1 hour of travel. The travel rate is $15 per hour, so for one hour of travel, the cost is $15.
Next, we calculate the tutoring time. A one-hour session is billed at $20 per hour, so the tutoring cost is $20.
Now, we add everything together: $15 for travel + $20 for tutoring equals $35 in total.
So, the total cost for the one-hour session, including travel, is $35.
How did you get started teaching?
After earning a certificate in Graphic Arts and web design, I accepted a position teaching Photoshop and AutoCAD. One of the job requirements was to complete the students' curriculum within the first month of employment. However, after I finished the entire high school math curriculum in just one night, my supervisor transferred me to the math department instead.
What types of students have you worked with?
Working at a charter school on a Job Corps campus meant teaching students who hadn’t succeeded in traditional public school settings. All of them, for various reasons, had dropped out of school at some point. A 'one-size-fits-all' teaching approach simply didn’t work for these students. My role was to identify their unique challenges and help them find ways to overcome those obstacles.
